Akos will talk at the Atmospheres and Architectonics Conference hosted at MOME!
His talk, titled Dissecting Architectural Atmospheres, will examine how built environments shape human emotions, senses, and cognition—topics central to his doctoral research and our work at Noumen Studio.
Urban dwellers spend most of their lives in built environments, yet the profound effects of these spaces on physical and mental health are often overlooked. My presentation will explore how insights from phenomenology, neuroscience, and environmental psychology can deepen our understanding of how architecture influences perception and behavior. I’ll also share a case study from Noumen Studio, demonstrating how these ideas inform our approach to designing more resonant spatial experiences.
The conference will feature keynote speakers who have fundamentally influenced how we understand and engage with architectural space. Sarah Robinson, Vittorio Gallese, Tonino Griffero, and Richard Shusterman have each made groundbreaking contributions to the field, shaping our thinking about the sensory, emotional, and philosophical dimensions of architecture. The program also includes a special video appearance by the renowned architect Steven Holl.
